"Sabine Hentrich has been volunteering at the Washington Animal Rescue League for over 2 years. Her service has become invaluable. She works with our dogs and improves their adoptability by teaching them manners. She also helps us by contacting adopters who might be having behavior or obedience issues with their new pet. We have had very positive feedback on all the assistance she has provided. I highly recommend her as a professional positive trainer."

"After our dog Katie, an American Water Spaniel, became too stressed to continue in a traditional obedience class, we found Sabine and asked for a private consultation. We learned that Katie is “soft,” and needs to be trained with positive
reinforcement. Two days after this first session, Katie was a new dog—bouncy and happy instead of timid and unsure. The Beyond Basics class is unlike any training we’ve had. Instead of getting glazed eyes and a rigid body, Katie is actually having fun, and she’s remembering what we learned! There is no conflict (the human doesn’t have to “win”) so Katie and I are enjoying each other while we both learn the skills to help her be a wonderful dog."

"Thanks again for your great Puppy Kindergarten class! It was absolutely the highlight of Henry's week - and a lot of fun for us as well. We really appreciated the chance to learn valuable training skills--not only the skills, but also how to teach and
reinforce them in a positive way to the little youngster. Your encouragement, enthusiasm and obvious love of animals are contagious -- we always leave puppy school wanting to be better puppy parents - and every week our resolve to work even harder with Henry on his skills is reinvigorated. Now that you have helped us learn what to teach Henry and how to do it kindly and humanely-we know we will be getting a great dog because of our hard work, which makes it so worthwhile. I think having the opportunity to socialize Henry with other puppies in a safe environment was very valuable to us. I have heard from friends that their dog trainers could be very heavy handed and judgmental toward both the dogs and the parents- and I never got that feeling while in your class. The environment was fun- yet we learned serious skills, so thanks again. We look forward to the next classes, as we know Henry does as well."

"Several years ago, I took my adult Great Danes through positive reinforcement training classes, so I knew what to look for in an effective dog trainer. Sabine Hentrich's training with nationally known canine behaviorist Pat Miller, her experience training rescue dogs, and her ability to find ways to
positively elicit desired behaviors made her my first choice for training our 5 month old Great Dane Savannah. Savannah attended Sabine's Puppy Kindergarten class. My husband and I attended the training sessions, and this was our first experience with clicker training. After getting used to this technique, we found it much easier to shape desired behaviors. As a result, Savannah's learning accelerated. Sabine, thanks for a great class and for teaching us old dogs new tricks!"

"I have trained each of my other dogs with traditional training techniques. The positive reinforcement techniques are difficult to get used to at first, but Riley (a Beagle/Cocker Spaniel mixed breed) is now in his second set of classes with Sabine, and I
am very pleased (and honestly slightly stunned) with his progress. Just to take one small example, in years of training, I have never gotten a dog to do a “remote down.” Riley, who I’d have thought much less trainable than my other dogs, learned it quickly! The classes are small and well-organized, and the personal assistance with each dog’s personality and best way to learn is really helpful. I have learned a lot about how to work with Riley, and I’m happy that I can offer him this positive activity. Sabine has also given me many useful tips on working with foster dogs and on handling a multi-dog household. I would unhesitatingly recommend Sabine’s classes to any dog owner, new or experienced."

"We really enjoyed your classes and feel very fortunate to have met you when we did. You helped to set Cooper [our German Shorthaired Pointer Puppy)
up for success as well as us as new puppy parents. The classes were fun, well-organized, and educational. In Manners 102 [now Beyond Basics,] I particularly liked the game. It was fun to challenge Cooper's and my skills. Your training, advice, and encouragement were invaluable. I also very much appreciated your availability. You were so generous with your time when I would contact you via email, even before we enrolled! The handouts you forwarded and advice you dispensed helped us troubleshoot and identify training goals. I highly recommend you and the positive training method!"

"I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed both of your classes. I really learned a lot and have a new appreciation for the positive training methods. It's one thing to
read about them, but quite another to watch it "live" and see it work. I also appreciate your very nice way of "correcting" the owners without belittling either the dog or the owner. Rudy has really done well with these methods and I think that continuing the correction-based training would have made her a much less happy, easy-going and a much more aggressive, argumentative dog. She has settled down a lot and we are now able to stand and chat with neighbors out front without her hopping up and down like a frog the entire time."

Thank you Sabine for all your help with Jingles. He has really responded well. The worksheets you gave us and the books you shared were extremely helpful. Not only do your methods work, but we feel so much better about using positive training techniques instead of harsh punishment. We just took Jingles to a friend's party and no one could believe he was just a puppy because he was so well behaved and listened
to us. We couldn't have done it without you. Thanks again for all your help.

Clicker training is wonderful! Our Great Dane, Ella, was 9 months old, weighed 85 lbs and had not been trained in any way when we brought her home several weeks ago. Sabine Hentrich and the clicker method of training have worked wonders for Ella. In just two weeks, Ella learned the cues for sit and down and became easy to walk. She is becoming more manageable with each training session; we’re thrilled!

Sabine, thank you so much for the tips. Obie's submissive urination seems to be gone. Jo-Jo is really taking to the training. He also seems to enjoy it. Not only
have we been working on the down and no jumping but those things have apparently clicked something with his potty training. He has been alerting us when he needs to go outside. He will quickly do his business and want to come back in. I have to tell you that Jo-Jo really shows a willingness and ability to learn quickly. We are very happy because he is such a good dog at heart. We are both glad you are helping us work with him the right way! This method is so much better than the old way..

Sabine has extensive knowledge in the areas of puppy behavior, positive-training and overall "owner" training. Her training methods are easy to follow and our
[Yorkie] puppies felt like they were in class. They responded quickly to her instructions and were surprisingly well behaved. I would strongly encourage anyone interested in learning how to control their fur babies and not have their fur babies control them, to utilize her services. You will not regret the investment.

Having done traditional obedience training with our young German Shepherd and having recently switched to the positive training
method, we can absolutely say without any reservation that Positive Training is the way to go. Sabine Hentrich is a wonderful trainer - of people! - and how we should interact with our dogs. Sabine's approach is so well-designed. A wealth of knowledge, Sabine offered us information from magazine articles, to books, to DVDs, and web sites. She is always available via email and readily answers any of our questions.

When we first moved into Greenbelt and were looking for someone to watch our very friendly 90 pound chocolate Lab Cobi, our new next door neighbor immediately suggested Sabine. And, lucky for us, she was a pet trainer as well! We have come to depend on Sabine numerous times and now Cobi gets incredibly excited whenever he sees
her. She knows just the right amount of attention to give him, has taught us how to keep him from pulling on his leash while using very friendly and positive methods. Plus, she is very generous in sharing information regarding the latest on nutrition, dog toys (since Cobi is an incredible chewer) and has informative web links. Most importantly, Sabine loves animals and it shows! We, and Cobi, feel very lucky to have her.

Sabine, thanks for your help training Trixie, [our mixed Border Collie] and for your patience and cheerfulness with us as new dog parents. We appreciate the written material you provided
and particularly the recommendations on toys and equipment. By using the harness, Trixie walked around Lake Artemesia with us yesterday and a good time was had by all.
